Great Planes Tiger Moth EP ARTF

Revolutionary realism in a classic military trainer.

This Lightweight foam Tiger moth has details molded into the foam and plastic parts contributing to a realistic cowl and cockpit  with factory-installed windshields. Other sport-scale touches include instrument panels, pilot figures and peel-resistant, preapplied markings. Most small foam models use taped hinges but the Tiger Moth has live hinges on the elevator and rudder, plus ribbing molded into the Pro-Formance foam. No other indoor foam model can match this Tiger Moth’s accuracy authentic down to the de Havilland logo on the wheels.

By 1930, Geoffrey de Havilland’s one- and two-seat civilian biplanes had grown so popular in England that virtually any kind of private airplane was called a “Moth“ much as, in America, any small plane was automatically a “Cub“.

Of them, more than 250 are still considered airworthy. The prototype of the DH 82 Tiger Moth made its debut flight on October 26, 1931. The Royal Air Force took notice and began using Tiger Moths for elementary pilot training. By the end of World War II, de Havilland had delivered more than 4,200 to the RAF. About 3,000 more were built in Australia, Canada and New Zealand for Commonwealth Air Training. Eventually, over 8,700 de Havilland DH 82 Tiger Moths would be manufactured.

  • Easy to fly, like the 1930s RAF biplane.
  • Fly indoors or outside in calm winds.
  • State-of-the-art design improves scale detail.
  • Optional rigging shown (not included) may be added following directions in the instruction manual.
